Life Lessons by Andrea S. Yeager

Life Lesson #1: Make sure to laugh every single day.

Laugh at yourself. Laugh at your lover. Laugh at your best friend's corny jokes. Laughter truly is the best medicine. I genuinely believe that this is what keeps us young. Not only does laughter make you feel good inside BUT it also helps keep your stomach muscles strong and tight. Ka-ching, double bonus!! :-) Laughter is contagious too. Some would claim that happy, giggly people are not respected or taken as serious as Conservative Carl but I agree to disagree.

Life Lesson #2: Believe in karma.

I 100% believe in karma. When you do good deeds, good things will come back to you. Take things as they come. We can't always change what life throws our way but we can change our own outlook and the way we handle life's challenges and crises. Have a bit of faith. Something good your way will come. And everything, EVERYTHING in life happens for a reason. It's what makes us stronger human beings in the end.

Life Lesson #3: Eat ice cream.

Just not the whole damn pint. Or whatever food it is that you ultimately like to indulge in whether it be pizza, cupcakes (my personal favorite), french fries, etc. Share it with your partner, cubemate, bestie or frenemy. Indulging in a little treat helps keep you happy. And it feels even better to share because someone else gets to partake in the indulgence with you. Something about sharing that special little treat is a great bonding experience. Try it. You'll be surprised how true this is! :-)

Life Lesson #4: Hold your head up high and show 'em who's boss!

And that would be you! Have you ever noticed how many people look your way when you walk confidently down the street with your head held high? So go ahead: pop in those earphones, crank up Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time", and smile away. Go on wit your bad self!

Life Lesson #5: Make your bed daily.

Nothing feels as great as coming home from a long day of work/working out and falling into a freshly made bed. Ahh, bliss. And make sure to wash those sheets 1-2x a month! Fresh clean sheets makes the feeling THAT MUCH BETTER.

Life Lesson #6: Take time for yourself.

Whether it's a 20-minute power run; sipping an am coffee while reading the newspaper; writing in your blog, make sure you do something that is dedicated to YOU! It's a great feeling. We often forget how quickly time passes by. Don't fall victim to this. The biggest and only regret I think one can have is that of not taking advantage of the little things in life. So get up from your desk for 15-20 minutes, those documents will still be there when you get back. And you'll come back with a fresh head on your shoulders.

To be continued....

Here Comes Baby...

And no, the title of this blog is probably not conducive to your line of thinking right now. I am not "with child." I repeat, I am NOT with child. Phew...

I am actually dedicating this blog to my colleague, Elaine. Yes that is actually her real name. And in case you were wondering she did give me the approval to blog about her and use her real name. I did offer her the opportunity to choose her own pseudo name; however, my blog readers thank you in advance, E! :-)

Now Miss Elaine is 23-years old and quite the interesting little character. I find there's never truly a dull moment when she is around. I; also being a little bit of a drama queen, love when the girl takes center stage. The following you are about to read takes place on a Friday evening in the office. (The same office where just a bit before I had shut the door to perform mid-afternoon jumping jacks... I told you we were a special breed at work!)

Elaine (while plucking eyebrows) - "So, I'm thinking about selling my eggs for $8,000 and getting liposuction."
Andrea - "I don't think that's a good idea." (I am SOOO playing Captain Obvious in this screenplay right now.)
Elaine - "Why not?"
Andrea - "Well I don't think there's anything wrong with selling your eggs but only if your doing it for the right reasons. I'm not quite sure that lipo qualifies. Besides why do you want lipo? Your not even fat. " (She's not.)
Elaine - (PS - I don't remember if these are the exact words or not but hey, it's my blog and I write what I want to now, don't I?!?!) :-) "It's just always been a lifelong dream of mine." (Yeah, I kinda think I made that line up... sorry E-dogg...)

Cute little intern comes in. Whom, might I also add, has probably only met us a handful of times.
I forget her name. We'll call her Viola.

Andrea - "Ask Viola if it's a good idea."
Elaine - "Sooo I'm thinking that I want to sell my eggs and get lipo."
Viola - "Your not even fat."
Andrea - "Thank YOU!"
Viola - "And what if you gain weight again?"
Elaine - "Well I'll just sell more eggs."
Andrea - "And it becomes a vicious cycle?! So do you want to have kids yourself someday?"
Elaine - (with the most incredulous look ever I might add!) "Not for a loooooong time!!"
Andrea - "Yeah, but if you start giving away all your eggs, I think it might be harder to reproduce in the long run. You need to think long term." (Hayzeus, I have truly become a practical grown up."
Andrea - "AND. Don't you just think it will be weird knowing that there's some mini-you out there running around?"
Elaine - "Yeah but look I will be helping someone who can't have a baby."
Andrea - "Can I blog about you???"

End scene.

And today I get a text that says... 'blog this - surrogate mothers get 25K. sooo tempted.'

i haven't blogged in over a month!

un.be.lievable! Seriously, I have no idea how time has managed to slip by and I have not taken the time to update the old blog-a-roo. I feel like I've definitely had some blogworthy moments between today and Jan 26th (last blog date) too but honestly I think most of them are moot at this point. Grrrr!
I'm not really sure why I chose today to revamp the blogging skills either. This weekend, Kevin has been away for a conference in Indy. I had a nice long 3-day weekend where I did absolutely nothing! Oh, sure I went for a nice little run here and there and I did a little shopping but I have not been this lazy for 3 days in a row in a long time. I feel like I've gained probably 76+ pounds being a lazy sloth. I have to say I am ready to go back to work and get my normal lifestyle routine kicking again. I say, "Bring it on, Monday!"
Anyhoo, so I'm contemplating how to spend the rest of my Sunday. It's rainy and dreary outside. Boo! The weather in San Francisco has been hit or miss lately. For instance, the other night after work I went for a run and ended up having to shed my fleece and was running in a tank top. At 7pm!! That is insane! And then on Thursday, it was hella cold. And now, it's rainy and dreary. BOOOOGUS!
Ok well considering I am being extremly lame-o, I am going to cut this blog post down. I just felt the need to let you all know that I am alive and kicking and I VOW to upkeep my blog better in the next few weeks!
Plan a trip to come visit me so I have some exciting stories to blog about!!! :-))))
